i have a 85 ranger with 2.8 and its got a rod out the pan is there any moter i can put in it with out changing the tans and transfercase?? thanks brock
Not the 3.8, it has a different bolt pattern. Going with a 2.9 you will be fine but a 4.0, you will have to be nice when pushing the skinny pedal or you will tear up the 2.8 tranny. If going with a 2.9 or 4.0, grab the flywheel and clutch setup from those engines and maybe the starter.
i have a 85 ranger with 2.8 and i want to get it running the rod came out the pan and now i cant find one and what can i put in with the trans i got already and if i can keep the carb on it if possible any advice please let me know like to get it on the road soon thanks
Pretty sure if you want to keep it carbed and use the same transmission its gonna have to be another 2.8, which would be the easiest choice. A 2.9 will bolt to the transmission and work just fine but the 2.9 is FI and would require you to rework the fuel delivery system and deal with wiring.
