2.8 or 4.0


I would definately go for the 4.0L. From my point of view, I couldn't see putting a bunch of money into a motor that really isn't that great. I think it would be more exciting for put a 4.0L in your BII. More power, torque, better fuel mileage, etc.
 
c-5 rebuilt with c-4 guts is the best of the best

Mine was already put together when I got it, and since they are not that easy to come across I am not going to complain.
 
both the 2.8 and 2.9 are damn good motors (when taken care of) i have had both. the 84 2.8 had 210000+ and the 2.9 has 197000+ (84 found a tree at 40mph) 87 still strong I use 20w50 castrol with high mileage trans fluid in the 84 c-5
 
you don't have to swap dash, just don't forget grounds mine is almost done, the hardest part is getting a radiator i'm using a 2.8 2 core radiator i'm hoping it'll work, i'll post pictures when she's done
