2.5L ignition timing, torque pro

That's the EGR vacuum solenoid...and I think the cap fitting is a purge vent of some sort...and it's funny because I found one in the footwell of my Ranger and was wondering where I took it from...lol...

I know it goes under the hood so that sorta cleared up that mystery.

If you are not getting the codes returned then it's working properly. The only problem may arise from the vac connections and I was trying to find a correct diagram of the connections...without any hits yet...but I will keep looking because I will need to know how this connects for my 2.5 too...

The cap I circled in white I believe has a sponge under it.
The one I circled in red is the the one that makes no sense to me.
It looks like it goes to the back side of a diaphram.
It appears to be similar to the air conditioning recharge fitting.
I just wanted to be clear what I was talking about.

Don't know what the red one is for either...if you have A/C it might be related to that...since yours is a 2000 it wouldn't be in mine regardless...maybe ask in the Heating and A/C thread below...if it has anything to do with that someone in there should know...also check out that new thread on installing OEM A/C from scratch...it might depict parts more clearly...
