Hello everyone, I'm not sure if this is the best section to post this in. If not let me know and I'll move it.
So I have a Manuel 95 Ford ranger with a 2.3 with 1300,000 miles on it. So when I go to start it it sometimes starts perfect other times of bands and starts or rattles around then bangs and starts. It does this worse in the mornings. Worse when it's cold (I'm in south Louisiana so it doesmt get that cold here) i have a cheap code reader and it says my TPS is bad. I'll change that this evening. Is that probably it or could it be something else? Also says I'm running lean

There was someone else a while ago that was having issues that sounded similar and they had some plug wires mixed up on the coil packs, I would double check that they are connected correctly. It doesn't matter if cylinder 1 and 4 are mixed up or 2 and 3, there are two sides of the coil that fire at different times, those two pairs fire at the same time.

This diagram is for a 92, should be the same in 95 right? Going by the diagram everything is right except 1 and 2 for the back coil or swapped around. The front could is the same as the diagram

Yes, pretty much the same but it doesn't show where the connectors for the coil packs would be, in that diagram the connectors on the bottom one is on the bottom, on the top one is on the top I'm pretty sure, the coils should be marked with 1/4 and 2/3 if they are original. It sounds like you have two mixed up.

Thanks for your help, i haven't had time to double check it with the number the coils. but it appears that that was the problem. Its started up perfectly every time since I swapped them around
