i have receved a free 2.3 from a 83 ranger and in the proces of swaping it in to my 88 ranger. are the heads the same from 83 to 88?and are the timing belt stuff the same? im having one of the heads worked and want to rework the beter of the two heads.i plan on using my curent 2.3 efi stuff and all redy have the 83 2.3 out, cleand, and striped of all the external parts to swap the parts from the 88 on to it(brackets, pulleys, sender units,)i will have to make a fule pump block of plate.

also any one know a good place to order a kit for doing the heads.

i do belive the heads are the same other than the plugs. any what do you mean a kit? a porting kit? if so www.eastwoodco.com

by a kit i ment to say cam, lifters, folowers, valve seals, springs, keepers wut ever else is in this type head.

and plugs? heat range or different size?

take the fuel pump block off plate off of your current engine... my '89 2.3 still has a block off plate, they incorporated it into the coil mount, as I found out when I swapped in the turbo engine...

no i looked my 88 block has it cast off. its not even a machanical fuel pump option:icon_confused:. its no big deal ill cut one out of steal plate with a cut of wheal and fab one up....it will be fun:icon_thumby:

but now i need to find out how to line up the dizzy drive crank sprocket:bawling: my littel bro disided he wanted to play with the 83 2.3 when i was inside:annoyed: do i just turn the sprocket till the dizzey is on #1 top dead?
