2.3 Egr?.........

its called proper scientific method. without a baseline, all additional runs are meaningless (aside from bragging rights).

but assuming the factory sticker is correct the have a base line

the mpg we figured out self

down here with out driving habbits it was a little over sticker

and the mpg was an actouly increase

now the howse power would vary

the sticker was about 25 MPG highway. then you claim to get 14 MPG out of your mods. so your getting 40 MPG out of a v-8 mustang? riiiight.

37 highway
all day long

this was fun
we should do it again sometime lol

*Sigh*

Some people don't get it.

you noticed too huh?

37 MPG from a mustang :icon_rofl: i wonder why ford even bothers to produce the focus if a few simple mods will provide you with twice the horsepower and better mileage from a fullsize car :icon_thumby:

wow you really dont beleave me

thats kinda shocking man

we get 37 on the highway all day

crusing about 70

CAFE is full of shit man :icon_rofl:

No, we don't. My wife's PT Cruiser is rated for 25 MPG highway, which is what it gets at 65 MPH. If I slow down to 55 I can gain about 5 MPG, now that is impressive, but believable. No magic pill there; resistance increases with the square. Slow down half the speed and you need 4 times less energy to move.

When I occasionally visit relatives that live over 300 miles from where I live, I disconnect the DPFE sensor. I get a CEL, but ignore it for the trip. The truck is a 1996 F150, 302 engine. By disconnecting the sensor, mileage increases by 2 mpg, from 17 to 19. I do not notice any power gain with the ass dyno. The miles driven are freeway miles, so I can set cruise, and forget it.:)shady
I know this thread has been talked to death, but I just wanted to add the following:
With the results I had on the F150, I had occasion to make the same trip over the weekend with my Explorer. I decided to try the same thing I did with the F150. To make a short story long, on the trip north, average mpg was a little over 21.4 mpg. On the trip back with the DPFE sensor disconnected, mileage was 23.5, duplicating the same results with the F150.

One trip and a couple tanks of gas is not scientific. But the difference was enough to indicate to me that the EGR does hurt mileage slightly, and in my case I think power. With the EGR disabled, the truck can handle grades without downshifting where it would normally have to do so. Theory be damned, dumping burned gasses back into the incoming mixture dilutes the mixture making it less effective.:)shady

hmm, maybe i'll try that and just see what happens.
My trip is 320 miles one way, mostly interstate hiway where I can set the cruise for most of the distance. Cruise was set 73mph for 70mph limits. Seldom did I get under 65 except for stops, or occasional traffic congestion.:)shady
