1st gen daily drivers?

Did the 2.0 ever get s 5 speed? Would it even move in O/D?

No it doesnt. It's like the little engine that could.

You drive it like OD doesn't exist, unless you're on perfectly flat ground.
It can get 24 mpg if i drive it easy and not be in a hurry. On my commute to work I'm looking at about 18-20mpg.

18-20? Wow. Thats what my 2.9 gets with every take off like a drag race.

The multi colored one is stock other than wheels and tires. '86 efi 2.3, 5-speed. 250K miles and 3 quarts of oil every tank of gas but still runs as good as it always has. You just have to remember to check the oil. Red '87 was a 2.0, 5-speed but it's a V8 now. I love 1st gen Rangers. I've had a '99 and sure it did everything better than my '86 but I just didn't like it. Something's missing on the newer Rangers.

Well it's really not a 1st but every 85 mile round trip to a ranch where I hunt it makes me feel good.
