2, 3.5s are a huge amount of AC,
even n a dessert that much tonnage would do 5-8k of living space!

Package AC units can get complicated to, but old schoolers still think how they think

50+ years in HVAC here, wanna build an unda dash unit????
Lots of high ceilings. The giant great room is 19 ft, the basic rooms are 9 ft. There is a lot of cubic feet in this house. I've been living in it 4 1/2 years and the HVAC is working perfectly. Bills are much lower than I thought. Whether winter or summer, it's does well.
 
I seen a home window A/C unit stuck through the sliding rear window of a Chevy Pick up... gas powered generator in the bed. Dude driving looked like he was pretty happy... just saying.
Yeah wonderful idea. because some hillybilly is happy, that would be great in this truck huh?

I designed the house. When I was doing so, my calculations for cubic feet of space, it would put my house equivalent with a 6000 sqft typical house. The great room itself has the cubic feet of a 2000 sqft house. And because it is all single story, there is a tremendous amount of roof . and typical heat loss ( or infiltration) . . no second story to buffer.

Didn't want to get into the dash and redo all that. The truck is cherry. Just wanted to drop in an under dash.

You don't have to get in to the dash and redo anything really. At the most you might have to run a couple small wires and that's it. If you installed an under-dash unit, you'd have to drill holes in the firewall and install a firewall bulkhead connector plate system for the refrigerant hoses.

You can get any year of Ranger underhood A/C plenum you want to install under the hood. No need to get one from only a 94 model. They're all the same from 83-94. Ranger and Bronco II both.. Same plenum, same evaporator, same accumulator, etc..

Using Ranger parts under the hood would also keep it looking much more factory than an underdash unit would.
 
Well from what I've seen very little has to be done in the dash almost all of it is mounted on the engine side, if the bypass door is the same as the 2nd generation you can probably do it & have it look factory

The routing to the vents . . any different? More vents? or same ones?

I'd be surprised if an AC truck is any different than a truck without, you're probably going to have to find some examples, I'm not familiar with 1st Gen. My guess is, the factory would not have different ducting behind the dash for AC and no AC it just doesn't make sense from the manufacturing standpoint imo.

Only difference on the inside of the truck is the A/C button and the supporting wiring.
