1st and 2nd gen taillights

Was about to order some new taillights for my '92 and noticed 91-92 has different part#'s for 83-90 and 91-92 with the earlier being 1/2 the cost and at least visually identical in product photos. Anyone know the difference? Looks like either should fit and I'm replacing both, so they will match. Is there a difference in the bulb setup or attachment?

I know the F series changed the reverse light look somewhere in that range, the ranger may have to, but the taillights still physically interchange atleast on the F series.

Looked it up cause i was curious, note the style of the reverse lamp. Should be only difference. Top one is off an 87, bottom is for 91-92.

Interesting. I think my '92 has the older style. I'll have tho check later today.

The bulbs are different for the 1991 - 1992 years compared to the 1983 - 1990 years.

yes, it is in the bulb mounting, the mount and look identical but they switched from the twist lock bulbs to the push type like the front markers for the second gens... My '90 has the round 1157? bulbs in back but the flat style connector up front, they switched at some point...
