Hello!

I was curious if there was any troubleshooting I could do to see what is possibly causing this. I saw the whole 'ziptie' trick but when I checked my throttle cable, it wasn't stretched out. Is it possibly the TPS?

If so, do I need to reprogram it after installation? I tried looking on YouTube but couldn't find any videos/tips for a 3.0.

We are gonna need some more info...

Zero acceleration is far to broad.

Fair point.

When accelerating to go onto the interstate - there is no get up and go. I'm not expecting a racecar, but like it's not responsive at all. If I pull out onto a road and gun it, I think I could do 0-60 in 15 seconds? If that.

15 seconds sounds about right for a 3.0. 😂
Seriously though, have you considered the basic tuneup stuff like air filter, plugs etc?

All of those have been changed. I’m gonna try the TPS and see what happens. If not, I guess I’ll avoid short on ramps lol

I would have thought it would have thrown a code for bad TPS but I'll look forward to finding out if it helps.

It's sorta my dart throw in the dark. No codes, but it also rough idles and sometimes shifts funny which could be a sign of a faulty TPS. I will keep you updated when I change it this afternoon.

Yeah, those other symptoms do strengthen the case for possible TPS quite a bit.

@LilChebbie

Your truck is OBD II... you can actually pull up data on your TPS to check its functionality.

I just don't like changing parts to see if it fixes a symptom.

Besides... if it's the factory TPS... it's likely a far better quality part then any aftermarket replacement.

Sounds just like my ‘02 4WD XLT 3.0L. Will run 80 mph all day down the interstate. Just takes a while to get up to speed. Best to wait for clear traffic before entering the interstate.

I changed the TPS - i have an OBD 2 scanner but saw this before it's too late.

The idle is better. Still not a lot of get up and go. Not the end of the world. I was just glad the thing started up again lol
