Hello!

I recently posted how my truck did not have any acceleration. I tried the zip ties on the throttle cable- no luck. I changed out the TPS. I noticed I have much better acceleration and now if I floor it (getting into traffic) the tires actually broke loose on dry asphalt.
The issue I’m now noticing- when I start the truck, there is a VERY high ldle and after about 20 second or so- the idle comes back down. Not getting any error codes with the OBD II scanner, but it’s showing my load_pct is sitting at around 56% when idle. Previously it was ~20%.

Is this normal or should I install the old TPS? I like the acceleration but terrified I’m gonna blow something up or break something.

How many RPM? Load is complicated to interpret. I would think that's related to the TPS - I'm guessing it's an aftermarket part? Is this when it's cold, or hot, or both?

I will have to check the RPM and get back with you ASAP.
It is an aftermarket TPS from O’Reillys. It seems to only do it when it’s cold. Like first start of the day.

It's normal for it to be higher on a cold start - I'd think usually maybe 1200-1500rpm, but even if it was 2000 I wouldn't panic. If it's 3000 then yeah, it needs attention.

Thank you! I will go out and start it in a moment to check RPM - currently at the vet

I checked it, and it’s idling at 1,350. I’ll try to check on a cold start day.

Update: Was able to unhook the battery for 10 minutes- seemed to reset the TPS and everything is running as it should!
