1999 ranger 5.0l mounts

from what ive gathered when running a 3" body lift you dont have much of an issue. ill try to use the factory manifolds for now and if i run into any issues ill get some swap headers. hedman??

Meakin,
You really might want to start a new thread on header selection. It's more involved with the '98' and newer Rangers. No swap headers made to fit the chassis, stock won't work either. Sorry but that's why I brought the subject up.

i did start a new thread but just answer quickly why the factory ones wont work. also i can pick up a explorer 5.0 for 100 bucks that has low oil pressure. would it be worth it for exhaust manifolds and front accessories? are the blocks the same as the 1992 f-150 5.0 i already have? also is there an oil filter adapter on the ex block or is it manufactured different for oil filter clearence? i know im opening up a whole can of worms but i really dont want to part with the engine i already have and want to spend as little as possible to make it work

For $100 I'd that up in a quick second! Depending how complete it is. If it has the intake, that's worth $200. Mustang guys always looking for them heads. Short front dress makes it easier to fit in and use the stock mech fan. Oil filter would bolt right on to that F-150 block and provide the clearance. How about any wiring harness/computer - might make your wiring easier. Would have the correct oil pan, not all dual sump pans fit.

its got everything except mounts i believe. after that post ill be picking it up this week. I was planning on using an edelbrock performer intake and carb but now im not sure. is that oil cooler on the filter standard on ex's or is that something you did? thanks for the info!

That's the standard Explorer Ford oil adapter unit, think you can even see the Ford sticker on the black portion. Actually has an oil cooler built into it, that's the hose connection coming out of the black portion. As far as going to a carb and the changes involved, I'm staying out that one! My wiring experience changing from the later computer motors to a carb is nada. Staying with the "plug and play".
