1998 5 spd trans fluid

Am I supposed to use mercon or mercon v trans fluid in my 98 2.5 with 5 spd manual trans? Or are either ok to use?

Mercon V has replaced Mercon now, so You'll be fine with either in there.

I recommend Mercon3.

personally ive been running pennzoil syncromesh fluid in mine. its been in there for about 8 months/7,000 miles. works for me. (but mercon A.T.F is the specified fluid)
