Hey, I have access to relatively cheap parts to convert my newly acquired
single cab 97 ranger to power windows, mirror, and locks for $50 per side for whatever I need off of a wrecked 99 ranger...Door panels included....

Will everything swap out and interchange?? I did the search but didn't come up with a lot...Just looking at it the door panels look the same, but the 99 is an extra cab model (anyone need maroon extra cab doors?) but the glass is supposed to be different so I don't know....I have good mechanic skills and tools, and seems like the price is reasonable!!

Let me know what I need to get besides the switches, wire set that goes thru doors and the power mirror, and lock actuators....and door panels of course!!! Any advice is appreciated....I would love to have power stuff and don't mind some hassle getting there....Also prefer factory stuff if possible...

Some search stuff said to take the dashboard apart for some wiring??
Also said to make sure to get the gem.....what is that???

Thanks!!! jtsherwood

I'm kinda wondering this myself.
I have a 97 supercab and wanna put in power locks and power windows. I was thinking about power mirrors with explorer parts too.
I just don't know what ford changed when they did the generation change in 98.

Yeah, I don't know about this yet, no one has replied to me yet.....I CAN'T be the only one who has contemplated this....???? Can I???? I hope someone more knowledgable will be along any minute....:icon_cheers:

i can help..my experiance comes from installing a door that came off a truck with power windows onto a truck with manual windows..

bear with me on the details..im only 25 and it seems like yesterday i did this..then i realize that its been almost 10 years since that truck:sad:

GET THE COMPLETE DOOR! you might have to drill holes to mount the bracket for the window regulater, these are riveted in from the factory, i used small bolts to replace the rivots..the door is so you know where you have to drill the holes..

in all reality, it is just taking the manual window stuff out of your door, looking at the power window setup to see where everything goes, take it all out and put it in your door exactly like it was in the other door..i do not know what you will have to do to wire them up..and you may have to drill some holes, i would reccomend getting the a complete set of doors from a junkyard, tell them what you are doing, and then bring the doors back when you are done..or buy a really rusty set of doors that are essentially worthless cuz of the rust...good luck with your project, its totally doable, let us know how it goes:icon_thumby:

if u want this the easy way get the parts from a truck with the same year as yours.

i used 01 and 03 power window parts on my 99 and they didnt even fit by chance. we had to go into some custom work just because i didnt want to go home without em, but in the end its not worth the extra work. just get the parts from a same year.

so in my opinion the 99 parts wont work in your 97.

not to mention explorer parts, being those taller(the doors) than ranger doors
