1997 Ranger Engine

I have a 1997 Ranger XLT extended cab. It has a v-8 engine and I can't see where ford put a v-8 in a Ranger in 1997 --- How do I identify the engine?

2.3 i4, and the 3.0 and 4.0 v6's where the only ones offered so if its a v8 its cutom, and some pics of the motor might help to identify it

probably a 302.. Ranger never came with a V8

Either you are I.D.ing the engine wrong or somebody did an engine swap.


Come on, somebody gotta do it.
