Hello, I am trying to figure out what exactly my trim level is on my truck. It has no Splash/XL/XLT marking on the tailgate or anything. It only says "ranger." I have the supercab 4x4 V6 4.0, and for the life of me can't figure out which trim it is. Is there any easy way to figure out which it is? And I am not sure if this is even the right forum topic, but I wasn't entirely sure which to put it on.

Fender badge?

There are no badges apart from the ones that just say "Ranger." I checked the door sticker as well.

Your trim code is on your door sticker ,there is a door sticker chart on this site .

Thank you for the tip, and I found that tool. However, my sticker's tape(the code for trim level) is blank. Here is the sticker:

It's in your Vin number which you covered up , look under , other articles , at the top of the page .

Nothing in VIN or on data sticker tells which model it is.

If it is a pretty plain jane truck it might just be a "Ranger"

From time to time there was a level below XL that had no real name, just a base truck.

Is that what's considered "Splash" or is that something else?

I give up !!!

I think you were refering to the VIN code, and in my case is "r15", right? Says Ranger 4x4 2 door supercab. I mean the actual trim level, like Splash, XL/T etc. I also found this tool for the federal sticker, which isn't the VIN one.

I now see your problem , you don't have anything under TAPE ,tape is where your trim level is. Probably the no frills model . And a Splash is a more expensive model.

Having a 4.0L V6 lessens somewhat the chance it's an XL, and increases the probability it's a STX or XLT, but nothing is for sure. We need more details of your truck...

Does it have...

  • Chrome bumpers & exterior trim, cloth seats (60/40 bench or w/ctr console), and carpeted interior, and is fairly-well to well-optioned?
(such as having A/C, cruise, CD or cassette radio, sliding rear window, cargo lamp, power windows/locks/mirrors, fog lamps, door pockets, etc.)

  • No chrome trim, but has sport lumbar seats w/ctr console, carpeted interior, leather-wrapped steering wheel and is fairly-well to well-optioned?
(A/C, cruise, blah blah, same stuff as above)

  • Flareside bed, body-color grill & bumpers, carpeted interior, cloth seats, again fairly-well to well-optioned?

  • Rubber floor and vinyl or knitted vinyl bench seat, solid back window and somewhat devoid of options (maybe has A/C)?

It matches the second option there. No flareside, but no chrome either.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel is an STX-exclusive... So if it has that, then the only way for it to NOT be an STX is if a previous owner had swapped it on. If the rest of everything else matches up with that description, then it's probably a safe bet that you have an STX.
