the door ajar light is on, on the dash.

I looked all over both doors and cant find any type of door striker switches.

are they integral in the lock mechanism itself??

cluster is from an explorer so maybe the ranger doesnt share that function??

Just had that happen on my stock '98'. Same here looked all over for the switch, been too lazy to bother looking in the manual this week but yesterday my over head light came on so I had better start looking.

the door ajar witches are in the latches. try lubing you latches and open/close the door about a dozen times. may save you from having to pull the panel. the switches get all dried up and stick

perfect. but been raining steady the past few days including today. am I able to just spray into the latch assembly or do I honestly have to take apart the door panel??

doesnt really bother me either way since I have to replace the blown driver side speaker anyway but that can always wait lol.

oh yeah, in case the switch is beyond help...can you use explorer latches or ranger only?? u-pull has very few rangers with latches not taken but lots of explorers.

My first ranger did that when I got it, I read someplace on trs about spraying the latches down, you can do it with the door fully assembled.

I had a can of wd-40 and opened the door and sprayed everything I could see in the latch and I also sprayed upward through the latches (probably 20 seconds spray time per side) then slammed both doors 10 or 12 times then reinstalled bulbs in the dome light, that was april 2006 and it has not acted up since then.

I had to take my door apart and replace the latch switch on my 01 Ranger. $10 switch and it worked like a charm.
