Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and patience is appreciated. I recently acquired a 1996 B3000. I have mostly have had Chevy's, Fords, and a Toyota, so having a Mazda is going to be a learning experience. I went to a Mazda forum and the 1 post I have received directed me to a Ranger forum, so here I am. I have been told a 96 B3000 and 96 Ford Ranger are the same, so here I am.

The speedometer and tachometer work, but the odometer doesn't. It appears the other gauges work because they are at half way on the gauges. However I haven't gotten it tagged and on the road yet, so I am unsure on the other gauges at this point. Can someone give me some information on where to start to get this fixed. Thank you for your time and experience.

It's a ranger pretty much in everything but some of the exterior sheet metal, nametag, and owner's manual. So yeah you are in the right place ;)

Thanks MikeG for the response. Do you have any advice on the odometer problem? Thanks.

If it's one like my '95 Mustang, the odo is driven by a plastic gear. The gears break but not too hard to replace.

Thanks sheep herder, but the speedometer and the tach are working, but not the odometer. I am wondering if there is a fuse or something deeper.

Never had to mess with mine - sorry.

That gear only affects the odo. Nothing to do with speed or tach.

The odometer had not worked in my 1996 B2300 since 2009 according to Carfax. I ordered a replacement gear from www.odometergears.com and got instructions from another thread on this forum on how to replace it. Works just fine now.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely get to work on this as soon as my time permits.
