Hey everyone. My names Chris. New to the forum. Just picked up a 95 ranger xlt 4.0 and I’m sure most of you are aware the cable bracket for the gear select has broken apart and I’m trying to find a replacement. I can on find replacements for 97 and up online so far. Anybody know where I can find one aside from a pull a part…which my local yards don’t have any 95s and below, I have checked. Or does anybody know the part number that I could try searching as well? The photo is everything remaining from the old one I removed. I don’t know exactly what it’s supposed to look like with the limited pieces I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is what the complete assembly looks like. This one is for the larger trucks. It's basically a plastic tube with a piece of string inside it. There is a spring inside the PRND21 indicator that pulls the red needle to P. The other end of the plastic tube and the string are attached to the steering column. As you shift the trans lever, the steering column twists and pulls on the string, making the plastic needle move to the correct gear. Of course you have to fiddle with it so the needle reads correctly.

I broke the one on my 1980 F150, and was able to make one out of a 1979 Granada work. It's really a cheap piece of junk and easily broken, especially when the plastic tube gets old.
