1994 B4000 4.0 vacuum leak

Hi,

Can someone please tell me what hoses are supposed to be here and where they go.

I also attached a picture of engine bay to show reference of the area. It's driver side.

Power brake booster, large one
PCV Valve, larger one

Smaller hoses
Vacuum reservoir, its the black plastic rounded cylinder sitting on top of the Heater box, supplies steady vacuum for cab vents

FPR(fuel pressure regulator), just below and behind alternator, vacuum line runs under coil pack and around the back of the intake
Cruise control, if so equipped
Air pre-heater valve, on top of air cleaner box cover(looks like its hooked up at air cleaner)

1994 shouldn't have EGR system, but I do see a DPFE sensor so....................DPFE doesn't use vacuum, those are exhaust hoses
EGR solenoid does use vacuum, BUT......it is usually "T'ed" off the Vacuum reservoir hose after the check valve, so it has steady vacuum, so not hooked directly to intake vacuum

And the EVAP solenoid, drivers side between vacuum manifold and Charcoal Canister on drivers side rad support

Best thing, if you can't find hoses that are off is to cap the open ports and see what doesn't work

If I plug the two holes without hoses it seems to sit and idle just fine.

So the two missing were from the a/c side.

Is there supposed to be a hose attached to this section as well. It is sucking in air.

Yes, that needs to be connected or plugged

FPR is just below it but line should run under the coil pack, it does on my 1994 4.0l

Maybe some one had it apart and didn't route the hose under the coil

Ok. I will have to look around to see if there are any other lines just hanging around. It won't be to hard to run under coil pack, just have to remove a few bolts and disconnect plug wires.

Look at the FPR and see if its vacuum port is open

You see the braided steel hose in picture, that is the Fuel Return hose, its connected to the FPR, so vacuum port will be just behind and below that hose

I found it and rerouted the hoses under the coil pack.

I didn't do a very good job of labeling everything when I took it all apart to replace some gaskets.
