1993 ford ranger wont start

Does then engine turn over much faster now and easier but just won't start?
If so your timing belt/chain is broke.

the little rotating thing under the cap is called a rotor but he should not have one on his 93. he should have electronic distruberless ignition. I think he has a timing issue. imho, if not the belt can the crankshaft position sensor get so damaged to screw up the timing.
Have your tried to pull any codes?

So then what should I have? I have a 93 as well, and it has the rotor and distributor. I'm not sure what your talking about.

the op has a 1993 2.3. I believe in 1989 the 2.3 went to a distributerless ignition system with the coil pack and 8 wires. your 3.0 has a cap and rotor I am not sure when they changed over
