1993 4.0 white smoking

My ranger been having a few problems lately. Thought I finally had it fixed when I found that the plastic boot that went around the mass air meter had fell apart. Replaced and put a new spark plug in front driver side hole. Ran good for a month. And now it missing on start up sometimes and white smokes. After a few minutes clears up runs fine. But the check engine light comes on sometimes but feel no difference in power.

Also no oil in water. An no water in the oil

Water could be thing straight into the cylinder. You could check the fluid for emissions or pressure test the cooling system. Missing any coolant?

About a 1/2 gallon per oil change.
