Check this out;
So my 93 has been running rough/missing a bit since it blew the heater core up in traffic a couple months ago.
So yesterday I decided to do a compression test of all the cylinders.
I unplugged the plug wire from the ignition coil to the distributor, at the ignition coil, then went to crank the engine. The coil starting sending a large spark to whatever surrounding ground it could find.
I didn't think much of it until I put all the plugs back in and went to fire it up, no fire.
So I assumed I burnt out the coil, and went and got a new one.
Still no spark.
What did I do to make a no-spark condition?

I doubt you burned out the coil, a coil sparks, it doesn't care if it's to a spark plug or engine ground, same thing.

But if you did pull the spark wire from the coil and heard it sparking then coil case is probably cracked, and removing the wire probably caused it to crack more as high voltage was looking for a ground.

Do 50/50 test
Add gas or starter fluid to intake
crank engine
if it starts and dies then fuel is the problem
if it doesn't start then spark is the problem, yes, try a new coil

If new coil doesn't work then check TFI system, read here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/TFI_Diagnostic.shtml

Greetings! I wonder how could this happen. Unfortunately, I can not help you (Good Luck!

Back at it

Okay, so after finding another mode of transport I am back working on the Ranger.
I also went out and bought a new TFI module and was trying to do some diagnostics on the old one first, but I am now unsure of where the module is even located???

I went to probe the connector on the back of the distributor, but it is only 4 wires, and my new module has 6.

So I guess that is not the TFI???
Where is this thing?
I cannot find it anywhere.
