Hi
My 1992 Aerostar 4.0L EAWD A4LD died. The trany went, lost all fluid and ....
I was wondering if the 4.oL will just drop in and bolt up to the 5 speed manual? Will I have to worry about drive shaft length after the 4.0L is in?
What other isues might I have? Is this a big job for a newbe?
thanks for any info

It is a rather difficult job yes. Bolting the motor in should be easy. I'm not sure about the aerostar oilpan though. Most of the 2.9 parts will bolt on the 4.0 though. The hard part would be the wiring. The aerostar harness will not fit in a Ranger.
If you got that all figured out the final result would be that the 2.9 clutch/TK trans would not hold up very well.
A carburated 302/c6 would be easier.

The oil pan is fine.

what has to be changes is both exhaust manifolds the Aerostar exh manifolds are different than the Ranger/Explorer manifolds.

If you can get Ranger/Explorer manifolds then your exsisting 2.9 y-pipe will bolt right up to it.
