1990 2.9 map sensor?

Sure, here goes, the MAF sensor (I previously replaced it), the location where normally speaking the MAP sensor would be on the firewall, and a pic of the other side of the engine for good measure:

They sure did change things around from year to year. I have a 1986 ranger with a 2.9 and it's MAP sensor is mounted on the pass side fender among st all that other junk over there.

Can you also get a photo of the tags on your ecm? This was a nightmare when I tried to do the maf conversion. If I have the box and strategy codes, I can get the binaries.

Oh cool. I wasn't sure they had a MAF 2.9, but that looks like MAF to me

Yup. My '86 has it on the fender, but my '87 body does have the bracket on firewall

Sure thing. Actually, after posting the pic, I decided to get a used ECU with the same part no. off Ebay, something I had been meaning to do for a while. It was only $65 and has a 60 day return guarantee so, as soon as it arrives, I can make sure it works and have it on hand as a spare.

Did they have more pcms? I have a pile of new in box Ford/Motorcraft 2.9 MAF sensors and housings here.

PJ412,
Since I’m getting my 89 back on the road after the previous owner let it sit a few years, should I disconnect the battery and change the MAF and IAC as a preventive measure?

I fire through parts too fast to answer that one... Experiments means frequent changes.
