Need a little advice on the appearance of the following ad. I'm basically looking at buying a used, but capable, entry-level off-road toy that I can both ride and learn to do some driveway maintenance/repairs without breaking the bank, I found this one that looks cheap and hopefully the repairs listed in the ad are doable with a friend who knows a little bit?

I'm going to try to schedule a test drive. Anything I should look out for?

similar to mine, they changed in 89 though.

i have a 1988 ford ranger xlt

not much to tell you.
i've had about a grand in repairs, doing my own brakes was a pain, alot of parts to get apart and shit, but maybe it's just me.

good luck man, it looks decent.
a few test drives are needed i would say, and have a look inside, if you don't know what you are looking for, bring the most auto intelligent person you know to do a full inspection.

the dent is HUGE though.

Bed's likely history.

Other than that, it looks like a good start for an off-roader.

It has the manual t-case and trans which are both big pluses. Based on the shifter positions, it has the FM146 transmission which is OK but not the best. Pic of the front wheel is not too clear but usually with the manual t-case you get manual locking hubs, another big plus.

Be wary of the seat covers on used vehicles though. They are usually covering up some powerful ugly.

Good Luck!:icon_thumby:

Thanks guys. I actually don't care about cosmetics, as long as I don't have anything that's too costly to repair (and by this I mean costs more than buying a more expensive alternative).
