1989 B2 "TRAIL BUSTER" in the making

Do yourself a favor (and your wallet) and go straight for D44 SAS. It's relatively a bolt in swap, and will be more dependable and reliable. The TTB can be built to handle terrain, but IMO its higher maintenance than the 44. Nice B2 and welcome :icon_thumby:

Never done shit to my D35 in 8 years & 40,000 miles other than once repacking the bearings maybe about 3½ years ago. It's been a very reliable axle.
I use Timken SET-37 bearings, Spicer ball joints, and the Warn Jeep hubs. Never a problem.

If you're thinking of building it for speed (reason for the bulge fenders?) a SAS is probably the last thing you would want (too much unsprung weight).
I would suggest you take a look around the site some before you commit to anything (check out the Prerunners section if that's the direction you're going). There's a ton of options available no matter which way you go. :icon_thumby:

Best of both worlds, adapt the TTB D44 outer stuff, knuckles, hubs etc. to the D35 bits. Way cheaper than the SAS D44 and every bit as strong. The weakest spot on a D44 axle is the same size as the D35 axle.

I've done both and wouldn't do another D44SAS. I'm going to do a D60/14 bolt for my next project.

i am planning on slapping on my "PERRY"S FAB" 3" bulge fenders and quarters. they say that it will clear 33 with no lift. so i am thinking that with minimal lift it will clear 35's! I am also going to eventualy go with an SAS. but will just be a cherokee D35 i alrealy have it. i have a parts B2 that i am using for the mock up. Since this is my daily driver i dont want it to be tied up while i get everything figured out.

dirt cowboys truck shows this is a great idea.

i agree about the knuckle swap....but disagree about the weak spot on the axles.....then again its power relative to a point. stock hp verse 250-350 hp moves the breakage location and levels for sure.... a d44 can be upgraded to 35 splines....but most 44's are 30 spline and ttb 35 are 27 spline....i busted shafts and spiders internally.....i dont think it would have been so much if they were custom 30 splines with good axle joints.

all in all....when your exceeding a d35...i agree its hybrid 44 or 60 time for most that get to that situation which is few of us.

yes that is what i am wanting to go for. i love that look
