1989 2wd ranger conversion to 15" rims??

I'm running BF Goodriches, Front: P225/6015/995, Rears: P295/50R15/1055. Front rims 15x8 reversed w/2" backs, rears are 15x10 also w/2" backs.

I used a set of 15" aluminum rims from a BII (the ten hole rims) and had 215s on them...also used two of the 5 spoke Ranger 7" rims and neither have had any problems with rubbing...except when I threw on some 235s once...but they were fine most of the time...currently have 225s on the back but they are snows and with the 3.73 gears and 100 lbs of weigth it will go through most everything on the road...

I recommend the 15" rims just for the smoother ride...they seem to smooth things out better than the 14"...

1994 ranger 2.3liter 2wd with 15" wheels

I stumbled upon a set of 15", 2000 year, 4wd Mazda wheels. They are aluminum (light) and seem to work OK. The 2.3 liter rangers aren't graced with tremendous horse power (at least mine sure isn't) so you don't want to go too big. I have 215 70R 15 tires and the speedo is 10km/hour out at 90.
(ie when I'm going 90km/hr by my speedo, I'm actually doing 100km/hr) (90= approx 55mph, 100=62mph).

So the bolt pattern is the same and they will fit???



I went to a tire shop and they said that a 15" rim wont fit on my '14" hub'. So i was under the impression that a conversion was needed.


However, seems stupid to me that ford would use two differant bolt patterns on the 2wd/4wd ranger!?!?.

That just goes to show you how incompentent shop people are anymore. If it don't say it in the computer it won't work
The only prob you might have is if it was 4X4 then the center might not go over the hub..

Several year old thread, but goes to show how useful The Ranger Station is....this is exactly the question I was going to ask with my 87 2WD Ranger, to get more tire options....I can't even get snow tires for my Ranger as the shops here in town don't sell any snow tires that mount on 14" rims...time for an upgrade to some 15" wheels I guess....even with regular old all season M&S tires, the truck does good, added weight in the bed as well, but a set of snow tires would be an excellent upgrade....not necessarily studded, as we typically don't have much in the way of ice issues here in southwest Idaho, but more snow/packed snow traction would be nice, especially having a 2WD pickup with an open differential.
