1988 ranger 4.0 swap

i recently bought an '88 ranger and i really like this truck, but i keep hearing from my uncle(chevy fan) that the truck is junk and i should get rid of it. he did do some work to it, like replaced the whole fuel delivery system. i was wondering what the cost would be to swap in a 4.0 v6 if i found a donor vehicle. i would like to keep it a manual so i also want to know what transmissions would be a good choice, or would my stock one work.
also how much bigger is the 4.0 than my 2.9? the 2.9 is the fuel injected model, so would i be able to use the stock computer?

yeah i saw that, its what brought me to this forum actually, but what i really want to know is how much the cost of this swap is on average, assuming i can find a donor vehicle. also do you know what transmissions are good for this. i want to keep the truck a manual, but i dont know if my tranny will bolt up to the 4.0. although i hear my transmission isnt very heavy duty and that it breaks easily.
