1988 BII found $300

I have come across a 1988 BII 4x4 2.9L, slushbox/w no reverse for $300. No rust (up here in New England thats hard to find) Its red and grey two tone (grey from the bottom up to the door handles, then red from the doorhandles up),
Now about the reverse, it competly does'nt work, what if I change the tranny fluid and filter, does it have a chance of working then??

Also sometime down the road I want to do a manual trans. swap, what manual tranny will fit the 2.9L?? (the M5OD maybe, i hope so because i got a 91 ranger 4 banger tranny sittin in my garage).

good find....i too found one for $350 a couple day ago.....it is now mine...


the manual tranmissions that will fit the 2.9 are the FM145, FM146, and M50D-R1. They either have to be off another 2.9, or a 4.0. The 4 cylinder engine transmissions WILL NOT bolt up to the 2.9.
