much closer now. not having a set of tires/wheels to put on the front was a big hold up lol. i just need to rework my brake lines and get them where i want them, then bleed the brakes, hook up a d-shaft and steering and i'm good to go. possibly this weekend if i can get stuff done after work.

decided to redo my lower track bar mount. i didnt like it the other way.

started hacking up the cross member as well. not done yet, just needed it out of the way enough to hook up the TB.

decided i'd also redo the drag link mount on the tie rod. there was too much roll with the misalignments in there. just need to get a 3/4" bolt for it.

the TB and DL are about the same length, but not the same angle. gonna run it with the tie rod on top of the knuckle and if i have problems, i'll move it under the knuckle. under the knuckle, everything lines up real nice. i may switch to my old drop pitman arm as well. that way i could double sheer it.

Put the draglink on top of the pitman, then double shear it.

that's what i'll do if i go with my drop pitman arm. the one i have on there now is too flat to double shear.

yeah, i've thought about it and i'm gonna run the drop arm. when i mount the heim on top of the drop arm, it'll be in about the same spot it is now, but it'll be double shear. that last pic above makes me really worried.

You want those as parallel to eachother as possible.

Looking good so far.

yeah, if i put the tie rod under the knuckle, they'll be about perfect. gonna see what problems i encounter with it on top first.

i'm gonna try really hard to get it out of the garage tomorrow. just need to bleed the brakes and hook up a d-shaft....after i get the drag link mounted of course

Double shears are cool but you will never need it. You will strip the teeth of the pitman arm before you need a double shear.

with my luck, i'd break the bolt in the wal-mart parking. gonna leave the flat arm for now, but run the drop arm once i get other stuff finished up.

Well that is beauty of it. It is a bolt you can run over to Lowes and get a new one for 5 buck and replace it. with Tie rod end you have to have special tools to replace it. Bolt two cresent wrenches from Walmarts bargain bin and you back in business. Heck I have tighten one with channel locks. Even my 91 Mustang GT has heim steering on it. I got rid of the tie rod ends about 12 years ago and it is still going strong.

true and if you do have to replace a heim, they're $12 for a 3/4" one from ballistic. or if i needed one in a hurry, i could run over to east coast gear supply here in town and get one for a few bucks more. much better than $40-$50 for one TRE.

made the DL tab for the tie rod today. then hooked everything up

put the DL on top of the pitman arm, angles are much better.

gonna have clearance issues with lower radiator hose though.

ugh, it's always something. at least it's nothing major.
