I am pulling the transmission from a 1987 Ford Ranger, 2.3l EFI, 2 wheel drive. I have the transmission released from the Engine and am able to move the item within the compartment. I cannot seem to get the transmission into an angle that will allow me to pull it back over the suspension crossmember. Is there trick to removing the transmission that I need to implement or do I just need to keep working with it till I get the angle right? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Is this an auto or a manual?

If it's an auto, make sure the converter is unbolted and coming with the trans.

If it's a stick, just keep working it. It fits.

Trn it completely upsidedown, then pull down qnd to te left. This will put the top sqare portion at the 7 o clock and he starter cutout at the 5 o'clock ad let you lift the transmision over the crossmember.

Thanks. I will get back at it then. Thanks for the reply.

btw - it is a manual. TK5

I also had a very hard time pulling my back in Nov, The manual says to remove the exhaust crossover but I unbolted the cab and core support, lifted 1-1/2" (2x4) and it slide right out and back in with no fight. Worked really sweet.
