1987 2.9 intake manifold part- intermittent failure?


I also did some more digging and found out the stator in the disti can be damaged if this happens often, and replacing the TFI might not completely solve the problem, however, replacing both the stator (or complete disti) and the TFI should completely sort it out

Pulling the distributor is not a big issue. You need to remove the top of the intake manifold. I may have an distributor if you need one. My old truck was a 1986 ext v6 ranger. If you work on it without pulling it out and the intake intact it will suck bad. You only need a good wiring diagram and a volt/Ohm meter. PM me if you need any parts. I am getting ready to post up the remainder of the parts I removed off my old truck. what I can't get rid of get tossed back in the truck and sent for scrap.
