1986 B2 New wheels 15" vs 16"

I need to order tires and wheels today or tomorrow. I can't decide between 15 or 16 inch rims. The tires for both would be 235/75.

Anybody have any thoughts?

Oh it won't be used off road.

A friend of mine put 235/75/15s on his 01 3.0 supercab and he noticed a considerable decrease in giddyup and 1 mpg less figuring in the speedo inaccuracy.......235/75/16 would be even worse. Fuel mileage will probably drop 1-2 mpg. I am going to stay with 15s and all I do is tow and launch small watercraft.
No off road there would be no need for 16s.

I went from 225's to 31's and noticed a .3 mpg drop in town and a 2 mpg increase on the hwy and a little lack of power with my 3.0L but not very noticable.

I would stick with 15's, are you ordering online or from a store? Cheap or not? and is this still a winter DD?

if you go to 16's you'd need to get the tire thats the same size of the 235/75/r15...

i personally say go 16's b/c the tire selection is greater, i went 16's and never thought about it again

I am ordering from Tire Rack. The wheels are Ultra 15x8 Ultra Nomad Machined w/Anthracite Accent and the tires are 235/75R15 Kumho Road Venture SAT KL61. Mounted with lugs and a locking set including delivery the total is under $1K.

Thoughts?

235/70-16 is about the same as a 235/75-15

I had 235/75-15's on a truck with 3.73's and a dying 2.8... it got around ok.

For some of the same reasons stated above I would go with 16" wheels if the cost isn't too great of a difference. 15" tires are a dying breed, there are many more sizes available in 16" these days. Also, as 85 Ranger4x4 pointed out, there's a common 16" size that's comparable to the 235/75R15.

EDIT: I didn't even realize this thread was almost a month old! The OP probably has it all figured out by now!
