1985 ranger rollalong

Why I said it is I'd be more likely to use something like this as a camper at the hunting club, or in national forests. In either case a little more ground clearance would be a good thing. I'm not talking about jacking it way up there though just enough to put some decent sized (31" max) all terrain tires under it. Then of course the mild V8 would be for added power to push the things down the road and to turn the larger tires. Not talking about serious off roading just the ability to get off the beaten path.

that would be cool to take trail riding and then have a nice dry warm/cool place to sleep at night

I tried to talk the wife into buying one and driving around in it when we retire. She said no.

reminds me of the older toyota 2wd pickup based camper vehicle. they had a dually rear end also. a guy around here had one (toyota version) took off the camper, made a back wall for the cab, swapped in a manual trans, and made a stakeside flatbed for it. looked pretty cool. ive never seen a ranger like that though.

SAS and a V8...!

I did a yahoo search for Roll Along Ranger and there was a thread on FTE and it said that they also did similar things to F series trucks in the 70's, more of a class C type thing, someone said they were made by a company named "Roll Along Inc", but they supposdly went out of business in 1980....

Heres a link oto the thread...http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/436354-rollalong-1979-owners-manual-2.html

Chevy had something similar to this in '75. It was a K5 Blazer with a camper on it and it was a chevy deal. they called it a Chelai or something. it was the same color scheme as this one.

I saw one on craigslist near the Michigan Ohio area a couple weeks ago. First time I ever saw one, at first I thought it was stupid, but then I realized how cool it would be to have a rolling hangout.
