15 miles to the gallon with a 4 banger???

damn that's worse than what im getting in my sport -- 20 mpg haha

I don't know of anybody getting 30mpg with a Lima based engine. Maybe a Duratec... Best I've done is 27.

You took into consideration that the odometer is off with new gears and tires right?

I think your truck is new enough to have it changed in the computer, unlike me who has to actually change the speedo gear.

If you didn't change that, There's a calculation you can do to find out what your actual mileage is that I found on here not too long ago:

1st, Take your stock tire size (diameter) and divide that by whats on there now. Keep in mind that if your original size is like most (in metric) then it has to be converted to inches.

Use this link below to find out your tire in inches.

http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.html

Then lets say you do the math and get 1.14 as a total....
At next fill up, all you have to do is take what your trip meter says and multiply that by1.14. For example, say you went 200 miles. You would multiply 200 by 1.14. It would equal 228. You actually drove 228 miles, not 200.

Lets say you get 12.4 gallons of gas. Divide 228 by 12.4. It equals 18.4 MPG. If you did not do this and just did 200 divided by 12.4, You would only show that you got 16.1 MPG....Big difference.

Hope that all makes sense to anyone who needs it!

I got 33 MPG back when I had my old tires and before all of the old EGR issues.

What a boring tank that was.

My jeep went from like 17 to 12 just from swapping the wheels and tires on it, going from 225s to 30s. It might also be that your speedo and odometer are off so you are getting the wrong information if calculate your mileage by hand.

I add 11.2% to the mileage since i didn't re-gear or anything from my 225 -> 30" tire change.

first off i have a duratec engine, dont forget i regeared the truck when i changed the tires so the speedo reads pretty close to stock. i jus wish i had a 4.0 since im getting the same gas milage with 50hp less haha but oh well i love my lil RANGER hahaha

I Got 33's, 4.0, 4.56's and it still reads 10 mph off. and to whoever said downgrading from 33's to 31's will increase your mpg by 3-5 is wrong. my buddy has a 98 ranger with a 3.0 and a 5 speed and gets like 17 mpg max, with like 31 or 32 inch Goodyear mud tires. ( i think he has 3.73's tho)

I have a 4.0 with 4.10's and 37" tires getting 14-15 mpg(yes my speedo is accurate gps confirmed by phone and a garmin). Should I switch to 31's so I can get 20 mpg? :D

Sent from road while ignoring traffic

well on my truck it only reads 1-2 mph off.. your friend has mud terrians, if he got 31's that are all terrians it will dramatically improve his gas mileage from the 33 muds.
