1354 Manual T-case Shifter?

What is the difference in the manual t case shifters for a 1354 from a auto trans to manual? I got a manual case bit the shifter came out of a auto and it doesn't quite work right with my manual trans. I read somewhere there was a difference bit I'm not sure what it was.

The beauty of the 13-54 over the earlier 13-50 it replaced is that there is only ONE shifter.

It works on all the 1988-up transmissions that actually have the mounting pillars
for the T-case shifter.

The shifter handle on mine mus be bent or something then. When it's in 2wheel the shifter position in the shifter gate is in 4h and when it's in 4h it's in the neutral position and so on. it will not go into 4l because the shifter hits the back of the gate before it engages 4l all the way.

Get what I'm saying? I think if I just bend the shifter handle forward a little bit it will work fine.

You wouldn't happen to have just the boots and bezels for a manual manual combo would you? Thanks for the help.

Here are some pics of what I am talking about. It all bolted up fine and nothing is bent or anything like that. I pulled the transfer case and shifter out of a Explorer with a auto trans myself this past weekend.

Here is the shifter from underneath.

Here is the position of the shifter with the case in 2wd. It is in the position of 4h on the gate. (you can see the spave in front of the shifter where its supposed to be in 2wd)

Here it is with the case in 4 high and it is in the neutral position on the gate.

Here it is with the case in neutral and the shifter is in the 4l position on the gate.

It will not go into 4 low because the shifter is already against the gate in neutral.

There has to be 2 different shifters for the 1354 or the shifter is totally wrong somehow.

There is NO, let me repeat NO second shifter for a manual BW1354.

If you got the transfer case from an Explorer, then as long as it was the stock transfer case it is a BW1354 and the shifter is the same for a manual transmission as well.

If the transfer case has a fixed yoke on the front output, then it is a BW1354.

I know what a 1354 is and it IS a 1354 and it is the shifter the was on it. I pulled it all out of a Explorer.

If there is only one shifter and it works on both manual and auto then why am I having the problem?

I just figured it out. I remembered the back hole where the shifter bolts to the trans was slotted and I forgot all about it. Loosened it and you can move the shifter gate into the right spot and it will go into all gears and everything fine now. Thanks for all the help guys.

I was just about to ask if you ADJUSTED it correctly...

Because the gate IS adjustable.

Not quite correct, there are actually some 1350's with the fixed front yoke. I'm not sure what truck they came out of, but i was digging through a pile of RBV cases looking for a 1354m at a salvage yard, and found 3 or 4 of them.

The 13-50 with the front yoke was used on the the late '80s STX Highrider. I've got 2 of them sitting in my garage, and the pieces to assemble a 3rd.

I got my shifter and linkage out of a BII with an A4LD and a 1350, but I had to trim a bit off the base when I put it onto my M50D and 1354. The base hit the rear of the tranny and wouldnt go into 2wd or 4 hi.

the yellow is what had to be trimmed off.
