05 cobalt fuel filter removal

The factory fuel filter used a spring lock tool like the Fords and whatever else. But im guessing this ones been changed as the replacements have this style clip..

Not the best pic but how do you remove that?
 
Push the fuel line in a little bit then squeeze the white pieces together, they'll stay on the fuel line so take them off to put on the replacement.
