Greetings all

Three months ago I bought a 03 Ranger 4x4 with 87K on it.
After about three weeks I noticed a small puddle of fluid under the right side of the engine near where the engine and trans meet.
At first i thought it was the rear seal.
Now that my engine oil has darkened it feel that it is brake fluid because trans fluid is red , power steering fluid is red and now the engine oil is dark.
The leak is dripping down on the two steel lines on the right side of the engine (which I believe are the trans cooler lines ) right at the back of the engine.
The master cylinder was down just a little which I topped off.
I don't have a manual so I'am not familiar with what brake plumbing runs along the firewall behind the engine.
The Brake pedal has always felt soft but still stops OK.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again , Michael

If you had a brake leak, you would know it pretty much immediately. The brake pedal would sink down to the floor and you would have very little stopping power. If the truck still stops fine, it's not a brake leak.

Taste it.

Every fluid has its own unmistakable taste.

And red loctite tastes like cherry, and watch out for the new "bitter guard" coolant, it stays with you for hours...
