'02 3.0 A/c On = Rough Idle

Wow, that is an oddball.

So, it was the Transmission Digital Range sensor? (I put that terminology in there specifically to aid in future searches, btw)

How did you happen to find the problem?

(Your symptoms make perfect sense in hindsight...)

I found the problem by doing what I should have done in the first place. I took it to a mechanic freind of mine who has one of them thar neato Snap On tablet Pc super dooper scanner thingies. It just so happened that he had another Ranger doing the exact same thing come through his shop a couple of weeks ago.

I"m too bullheaded I guess. I once had a Chevy (I know I know, mistake #1). Thing had bad electrical problems. I sent it to a mechanic that was supposed to be the best in the world on electrical stuff. He kept it 10 days, charged me 300 bucks and said I needed a new wiring harness. I took it home spend 2 days and 20 bucks and found a short in the firewall connector where the harness passes through. I guess that made me a little too cocky......

Oh well, It's fixed!
