water pump

  1. Well… sounds like a belt squeal when i give it gas but horribly loud and constant.

I just did a water pump replacement and now when i press the gas it sounds like the belt is squealing. It’s a brand new belt. I saw online that my pulleys could be off or something could be seized but i’m lost. Any ideas from people who have worked on this engine? 3.0L 2001
  2. 2001 3.0L Water Pump Replacement

Need to do a water pump on my 01’ ranger and it’s my first time doing one on this truck. I have done them on older f150s but that’s about it. I have seen a few videos but some say you have to remove the AC and power steering bracket in order to replace it. Another says you need to drain your...
  3. Water Pump/ Weep Hole

My 2003 Ranger with a 3.0 L V6 is dumping coolant when idling and right after I shut it off. I think it is my water pump but I am not sure if the hole I am looking at is the weep hole. There isn't an overheating problem, yet, I drove it about 80 miles home after discovering the problem and...
  4. '99 3.0L Water pump removal

Hi all, I replaced my DPFE sensor a couple weeks ago. WOW! What a difference. Truck would not rev above 3200 or so. Now it will go up to 5k or so. Feels like a whole new vehicle. Friday I stumbled onto the throttle cable mod. Sure enough, even better! Can't believe how well it was running. So I...

Coolant loss - but NOT heads!

Hi guys, I've been dealing with a major coolant loss in my 96 xlt for about a month now. I bought the truck off of craigslist about four months ago and have been upgrading stuff since then, but am at a loss as to what's going on. Recently, I put in new gaskets on the lower manifold, valve...
  6. The mysterious overheat

Strange issue. 2003 Ranger Edge - 3.0L - 96,000 miles. Anytime the outside temp is at or below around 75 degrees, this thing never overheats. I can climb hills, do 80 up the Grapevine, sit in traffic with the A/C blowing, zero issues. However, if the outside temp rises, maybe about...

Where are bolts for AC & Pwr steering mount bracket?

I am replacing the water pump and read in the Haynes manual that I need to remove the bolt(s) holding the mounting bracket to move the whole assembly out of the way without removing either the AC compressor or the power steering pump. So I am looking but cannot find the correct bolt or bolts to...
  8. B3000 will only start with solenoid jumped

I'm sorry if this is a duplicate, but I'm having trouble getting the forum to accept my post. My B3000 was cranking very reliably before I replaced the water pump. Now it will only crank by jumping the solenoid. It runs beautifully, and everything works. There is voltage at fuse #24 inside the...
  9. Coolant leak problem

I am worried about my ranger. When it began to get warm outside the truck began to spill coolant on the ground after parking the truck after a long drive. I had to refill it often. Then it started doing it occasionally even after short drives. I discovered it was leaking from the heater core...
  10. 95 ranger 2.3L Coolant leak- I think its the metal part that fits into the water pump

I posted this in the quick response section before I saw this section.. sorry.. help!!! I have been chasing a coolant leak for a while. About a year and a half ago my truck with just 100k on it started to run hot.. I took it to a local mechanic and he changed the water pump and the thermostat...
  11. Metal shavings in coolant?

So I just flushed my coolant system. It really needed it, it was murky brown. When I flushed it, I found a lot of small aluminum shavings at the bottom of my flush pan. I immediately thought it was my water pump, but I want to know for sure. I have also been hearing something like a knocking...
  12. coolant leak

i have a 1990 ford ranger 2.9 awd, it has a coolant leak, i know the location, its above the water pump and below the thermostat housing. its behind the a/c condensor and it has a three prong plug hooked into it, kinda looks like a c shape plug in, but the whole peice itself is a circle and...
