reverse lockout

Does anybody know where the broken end of the reverse lockout spring (arrow points to it in the attached image) should go in an FM-146 transmission? Obviously the reverse lockout mechanism does not work in this condition. Can I just put the control housing back on the top of the transmission and...

I was removing the shifter in my new to me 1994 Ford Manual 4x4 when I heard the Reverse Lockout release it's tension. I think I have a pretty good handle on how this whole area works. But, there's a spring that maintains the tension for the Reverse Lockout and I think this guy has slipped...
