yeah, power isn't the issue, I think they're rated at like 110hp but the gear ratio on these things matter more, with your non overdrive C5 transmission you don't want to go too low, if you have 3.73 gears now you're probably fine but 3.45 wouldn't be ideal...
I've done it on my '97 which is apparently easier than a '95 as I just relearned... Conveniently I found a post with info on '95 which just requires moving a couple wires HERE. It doesn't need to be from anything specific, I grabbed one from an explorer.
I left off before but to see the timing marks when that cap is off you have to be on TDC with the crankshaft, if you have the crank lined up it might take another revolution of the crank to get the cam marks lined up.
I don't think there's any real limp mode, at least for that, and that's not how the post O2 sensor is used... all of the fuel trim stuff is done with the front sensor, rear is just making sure the cat is working and if then it just throws a code.
I would double check the timing marks, there's a...
My '97 felt kinda funny so I tried the zip tie mod and I kinda regret it since it just pushed the pedal more to the level of the brake pedal... that was like 3 years ago at this point so I'm used to it but when I get a wild hair I'm going to cut them out...
The rods were the same for all Lima's through '97 so you're good there, pistons should be fine too. The main differences starting in '95 were the oil pump moving, distributor hole going away, different crank sensor and smaller valve stems with slightly different valvetrain geometry but the same...
That stator doesn't look too bad, if you wanted you could chuck the bushing end in a drill press and turn it slowly and take a fine file or emery cloth to clean up the contacts and put it back together.
Yesterday wasn't as successful but I did get some stuff done... putting stainless sheet metal screws into aluminum is a pain, broke I think 4 drill bits (3 were HFT which I reluctantly used after my one good one in that size broke) and I think 5 screws, all of the bits broke on the first 4...
Well that frustrating project is done for now... it's not the most fun to cut a 4" hole in 1/8" aluminum with a body saw (jig saw would have been the same or worse I'm pretty sure, would have been more awkward at least) but it got me there. Of course had to spend a fair amount with a die grinder...
Today I went to an auction again (I go to support my brother being a farmer without debt... I'm the truck driver basically and obviously mechanic if you pay attention :)). Anywho kept the impulse buys and tools I don't need to a minimum, got a roofing nail gun with most of a case of nails...
It's "flat rate" as I just remembered. I have a friend that's a mechanic and he says it's a balance, some jobs he can do faster but some take longer.
But then there's also autozone's machine that just recommended that you replace both oxygen sensors and that's what you did, sure in this case it...
You can bank on pretty much every shop going off an expected average time (don't remember what it's called but mechanics are basically paid by the job not hour), oxygen sensors are one of those things that either is a 15 minute job for both sensors or a 3 hour job involving removing exhaust...
I have a bunch of grinders, two cordless and like 5 corded, the cordless get used most anymore just for pure convenience but I usually keep one with a flat knotted wire brush, a cup brush, cutoff wheel, flap disc and usually a normal wheel since it works better sometimes. I don't have any name...
And that kind of thing is why I leave the shields on my grinders, most people hate them but I like my fingers... I mean it doesn't stop me from hitting myself with the grinder doing something dumb but it reduces the frequency... got a little grinder bite a couple weeks ago working on the boat...
Finished fixing the other bench for the boat tonight then was staring at it and trying to figure out the other quick thing to do so I cut out the old exhaust which was a pain in the rear since it was 3" by like 3/16" wall tubing. Started out with the dremel and a 1 1/2" circular saw bit which...
Oof, sorry to hear that, I'm with Bobby though but I understand your situation, my '97 has been through worse other than I was able to save the fender and hood, my core support looks to have been worse than your pictures show but my frame wasn't too bad other than the bumper mounts on the frame...
If you figure it out let us know, my V8 Explorers drain batteries like mad, pretty sure they'll kill one in a month or less, it's super annoying now that neither is a daily driver...
Fair, anymore most of my camping/wheeling has been with the truck camper as base camp with the propane fridge going for food and just beverages in a cooler outside under the trailer with ice packs and ice bags for the most part...
I do have a plug in cooler, one of the Igloo or Coleman (think I...
