that Audi part looks as if it will fit directly. I am hoping that the grommet portion is removable in some way so that I can use the stud bolts as well. This is exactly what I needed to begin repair. Now to verify the quantity and get to work. Thanks.
You did read well. Neither FORD nor Mazda make the bolts any longer, nor the plastic intake manifold, nor the manifold repair kit etc. They are not available and in fact they will not even give me the complete list of part numbers as there seem to be 4 different bolts with grommets involved...
Well, let's look at this another way. Most people drive 7-12000 miles per year. Most vehicles are designed to run 200-300 thousand miles. 300/12=25years life expectancy (less accidents etc for the unlucky). The cost to drive this truck was maintenance plus about 1000 a year in that case.
When...
Well, the real issue is Ford/Mazda changing an age old simple design to a 4 piece assembly with adhesive applied gasket into a conical washer and requiring one to purchase the entire assembly. All that was needed was the actual GASKET to be separate. Any aftermarket would have picked that up...
Has anyone used versimold to make these kind of grommets? I am concerned regarding the durometer of rubber. The design of this assembly tells me it bottoms out and that creates the correct pressure for the cover to seat and not leak. I am considering making these, used an application called...
SAME ERA, deleted part as well.
Both Ford and Mazda have discontinued ALL PARTS and ALL SUPPORT for these vehicles. IF a part was used on them and not in the major production lines for Many many years, then it is no longer made. They are deleting all pictures of the parts except very rough...
I thought of that, but....this engine runs at 275 degrees. Probably needs silicone or higher rated rubber. But you did make me think of one thing. I may be able to make a mold and mold it if I can find the hi temp silicone that will hold up.
Keep thinking guys. I really believe that this is an...
Look at the shape of the grommets. IT is two different diameters with one that enters into the hole in the cover (alignment) and the next seals the cover.
I have already tried to find Orings, but they do not seem to seal properly. I have considered silicon vacuum line, but inner diameter and...
I have tried EVERY manufacturer including aftermarket manufacturers, talked with their engineering departments. Few sell vacuum carded products so I can see them at all. Almost all boxes currently state "can not be returned when opened" and ALL parts manufacturers list by application and will...
BOTH dealers say that there is no equivalent part number anywhere. They would be referenced throughout the system. ISSUE: there are only three years of this model in two manufacturers. All other 2.3 has plastic valve covers that year apparently.
It is hard to describe so a pic is worth a thousand words. The dealers have never sold just the grommet. They have always sold the complete bolt assembly. There are two versions and maybe more than one length of bolt, not sure. BUT here are a couple pics. What I want is the RUBBER GROMMET ONLY...
I forgot my 94 Toyota Pickup. Regularly got 22-24 city/ 38 on the freeway in TX 1/2 loaded, never close to that in CA or in FL (fuel difference???).
My B2300 doesn't see 22mpg ever!
Apparently the 2001 to 2003, 2.3 engine is no longer supported by either Mazda or Ford. One can no longer purchase intake manifold and many other parts. If you have part numbers the visuals are disappearing from sites. Not to mention that Ford and Mazda seem to be deleting part numbers from...
I had 69 and 71 C20, 350 engines. Tuned with vacuum gage and by ear I was able to get 18MPG fully loaded. BY that I mean exceeding load capacity by almost 150% and towing heavy.
Same tune up method, Dodge 318 Commander motor home pulling a Forde F150 4X4, 18 mpg. The 4X4 itself could not get 13...
