Just got back from Mexico where I came across a Mexican spec Ranger. Guessing it is new as it looks like it was being advertised or given away. Exterior looked different but the interior looked essentially the same

The stacked bars in the grille is kind of a neat idea, the rest of that front end... not quite so much :dunno:

I'm sure you could bolt a normal front end on to it :icon_thumby:

i like them..i think. the more and more i see them i'm kinda not liking them. i'd have to change the front... now the 5sp 4 door, heck ya!

So Mexico has a different version than the US and the global?

This has been posted before on our site. We can't bring it into our country however. I remember when I was stationed in San Diego and Coronado we used to go across the border and rent one of those cool retro VW bugs that they still made over there. I tried three times to bring one of the bugs home...just was not allowed to do so!!! They were just like my old 65 bug that I had for almost ever!!! The new bugs ran great and were so nice looking and the workmanship was so incredible!!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...I hate when that happens!!!!

why were you not allowed? what happened?

They don't meet like any safety standards. Which is too bad, because I'd love to have one. Looks like I'm moving to Mexico.

Yeah, first time I went a few years back I saw a lot of those original Bugs and wondered why they were so quiet. Googled when I got home and found they were made there until 2003. Could one bring one back to use as parts to rebuild your U.S. VIN Bug?

Also, the early 90's Sentra (bodystyle the SE-R debut on) is still produced there as the Tsuru and used a lot for taxis

Backroad, out of curiosity, do you have any pics of the back seat? I'm just curious how much room there is, and if it's enough for me to really even lust over one of these things. :D

Do you know what year this is or anything? It looks like the current generation, with a bit of a facelift, not the Global Ranger??

After I left I realized I did not get a pic of the back seat. Didn't cross my mind since we don't have it here I guess.

Don't know the year but guessing 2010 or 2011 since it looked new and looked like it was being used as part of a promotion or contest. Not the upcoming global Ranger though; interior same as the current US Ranger (excluding the back seat)

I was in one about two years ago and remember it being decently roomy. FWIW I'm 6'2.
