A4LD lost every gear but forward, replaced with JY unit.

I belive we can all admit that the 2.8 and the A4LD are junk.

Point is, they all break, and they can all be fixed.

Nuff said.

I will agree about the a4ld but dont talk s about my 2.8 its strong runs like a champ and will burn rubber almost to 3rd gear

The A4LD yeah.

The 2.8 survived high school and my foopahs of learning how to take care of an engine, it was pretty tough. Dad didn't think it would last thru high school, I graduated 8 years ago.

It isn't the easiest thing to work on, but I have a hard time calling it junk.

what I hate....

I hate that it looks and runs like the $100 piece of junk that it is. I love that although it is an ugly beat up $100 piece of junk that it has kept going for a year plus with only about $ 100 more in parts. I guess it's now a $200 POS. My kids are still small, so the miniscule back seats are okay, but I intend to find another couple of cabs and make a 1st gen crew cab before they out grow this one. I don't want a sport trac, i really like my TTB front end, and don't want the new style IFS.

I absolutely love my Ranger. I would like to have 4 wheel drive, but maybe I,ll get that on the next 1. I have 2 front seats and 2 cup holders. Thats all I need.

Love my truck. Hands down. No hate at all.

However... the very strong dislikes (which I hope to remedy at some point):
-the power steering whine
-the anemic 2.3L (that is still running great after 230k+ miles)
-useless RABS valve
-leak from rear window / 3rd brake light

Huh? Hate? The only thing I hate is that I haven't taken the initiative to fix the A/C and put some cupholders in it, replace some bushings etc. The hate is all on me, not the truck.

Let's see, rear seats, gonna measure to see if I can order custom sizes for front and a bench seat for rear. From that new custom seat builder from pirate4x4 section. That jack** before me ruined the torsion bar bolt on pass. Side... It's slightly sideways and makes passengerside 1 inch lower... That my 99 headlights are 2 piece assembly yet older model is 1 and newer model is 1. I'd takegrille from a newer 05 if I didn't have future plans of 1 piece front end after v8 is G2G.
