I'm about 90% that's it's fine. All that really does is help fuel economy a little right?

Yeah, thinner oil is better for fuel economy. I run 15-40 in my 4.0, even in winter. I just let it idle until the rpm's drop before I drive it in winter.

3.0s ran on 5-30 for years before Ford said it was ok to run 5-20 in them. You will be just fine.

no problem, I sometimes even mixed oil and nothing really changes

While I agree your truck will be fine, if you specified 5W-20 and they put in 5W-30, I would take it back.

Yep, that's what the manual says for my '97 Taurus.

Yeah, the girl at the counter was kind of ditzy

damn those Wal Mart kids.....
It's actually an ASE certified shop that I have been going to for a while, and have always received great service. But the cap says "5-20", did they not notice that!?

wouldnt it be easier to just change it yourself and not have this problem?
I live in a complex where tenants aren't supposed to work on their vehicles, plus the oil filter is a real bitch to take off/put on on the 3.0's. His prices are reasonable too, a basic oil change is $21.

mine is that when i do it.... but understandable about the tenants, u dont have a buddy with a driveway or a backyard?
