disciplerocks's B2 build thread

Thanks everyone.

Making a list of things to replace on my 4.0 before the swap. Its a good running motor, I just want to replace the things that may cause problems sooner than I want to deal with them.

flywheel, clutch, slave, filters, fluids, thermostat, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket, serpentine belt, tensioner, plugs, wires

Anything else you guys think I should replace?

If you can afford it, the oil pump.

I'm about in the same boat as you, I have a good 4.0 that I'm going to give a full gasket kit, except the head gaskets, I'm also going to save up and change out the oil pump, I'm going to get the high volume one.

get good gaskets... omg, get good gaskets... i'm cussing now b/c i bought a decently cheap set and now everything leaks again! and you might wanna use the rubber valve cover gaskets with metal hole rings. the cork ones suck IMO.

Believe me I plan to. I have heard it from others. And I'll look into an oil pump.

like was said, oil pump....and I would add a water pump as well.....

Congrats Dustin on getting in your new place!
I got my B2!!! Start stripping tomorrow!!

Thanks. Now I need to borrow an engine hoist. The braces in the garage aren't as strong as I thought, so I can't use my chain hoist. Anyone have one to spare?

Run some 4x4's along the ceiling of the garage supported by more 4x4's along the walls to give it strength, and you can use that :icon_thumby:

For the price and trouble of that, I'd rather buy my own hoist.
