what do you guys think about these springs?

Explorer Pro Comp 51423 i cant find much good info but it says that it will provide 1-6inches of lift for an explorer for 65 bucks. i figure that it would provide a good lift for my ranger cheap vs buying used springs at a junkyard that might not be in good condition

Can you post a link to the spring you are interested in?
Generally speaking, aftermarket springs for the explorer are too stiff, a lot of people use Jeep XJ coils I beleive.

Those are leafs for a Jeep Wrangler... Im not even sure if they are the right size to fit onto an Explorer.

When I said people use XJ coils, thats front suspension, not rear.

You are trying to get lift out of the back end of an Explorer, right?

some of the listings said that part number leaf spring was for an explorer, i dont know maby it will work for both. no i was planning to go to the jy to get some explorer leaves for my ranger and figured since the price is right on those springs i might as well buy new and get a little more lift.

I assume that was $65 per spring, plus shipping... Are JY that expensive out your way? If so, brutal.

A cheaper alternative would be JY the explorer springs, and get add-a-leafs.

nah i refuse to spend 150 per spring. the pullapart only wants 20 per spring so they aint that bad i just figured at 65 for a new spring that hasnt been sitting under an explorer for 15years sagging would be a decent deal.


my whole goal is to stay under 500 for the entire truck. ive got 2.5 factory lift blocks from a 4x4 i figure explorer leaf swap=50 ubolts for my blocks=15 f150 coils=25, 50 for lift shackles and washers to lift the front a little more.
80 for 4 15inch wheels. and the rest for some cheap 31's and ill have a decent super budget rig.

i could do more but the point is to prove that i can take a 150 dollar truck stick a few hundred into it and have a capable rig for light trail use.

Also, all that lift in the front end is going to absolutely destroy your alignment... You will probably need drop brackets AND new camber bushings to be able to get it anywhere near spec.
If it is a bush-only truck, that could be lived with for a short while, but if you are driving the truck daily, your going to chew through your tires in like a month.

And yeah, for cheap lift, I would definately say Add-a-leafs are a decent option. Also, the F150 coils are going to be really stiff, using a lifted coil for a Jeep XJ will give you much better articulation (can get cheapish ones for around $100 online)

20 each for all wheels at the local pullapart, im just looking til i can find a set of newer 15s from a ranger or explorer that are in good shape. dont want to buy new xj coils, ive seen what the f150 coils will do and they meet my needs just fine. i figured id have to take it in for an alignment after im done.

a standard alignment won't be enough, you will need new camber bushings for sure. 90% likely you wont be able to align it right, even with that. Drop brackets will probably be needed to get it right.
