Spring questions

So I am planning out a JD lift ext. Rad. arms ect.......

Anyways I am wondering what lift people are getting from either jeep springs or EB springs.

I am looking for about 4in of lift, and I still need to DD this.

Don't give me a BS answer if you don't have experience with this or have an idea what you are talking about.

When I had the TTB I put in a set of the JD 3.5" EB coils. Gave me right at 6" of lift. I dont recommend for a dd because of the light 225 lbs/in rating. I would choose something a little stiffer for driving. The weight of my explorer compressed most of the coils at ride height and I could bottom them out by hitting a speed bump @ 10 mph. The body roll was downright scary at times.

I believe I'd look for something around 300ppi for a driver. Off-road the lighter spring rocked, but the driving was just not good enough to keep them in.

What about 3.5in coils then cutting a loop off? Would that stiffen it enough?

Whats your weight rating on the front? My Ex was a hefty 2650lbs. If you are lighter than that, I'd say go for it. A little trial and error and you may end up with the perfect setup.

You'll also need a set of lower retainers to bolt onto the beams.

KK, thanks. Yea I have a 3.0 so its pretty light, and I was planning on getting some JD coil buckets and retainers. When Im to the point where I can start buying parts Ill hit you up.

I see a Supercab in your avatar pic... Those trucks are pretty heavy up front regardless of engine.

I would definitely suggest looking for something around 300PPI for that (some of Deaver's Superflex coils are rated 300PPI). However for 4" lift, I suspect you'd need a coil with a free-length of around 21" or so, which the Deaver coils are a little longer. Maybe trimming it down a little it would work, though it will also stiffen it some too (though still not near as stiff as TTB coils typically are).

I'm planning stone crusher, and I'll keep doing research. Im hopefully going to be able to start buying parts at the beginning of march. Maybe earlier if I get some money back for taxes

Good deal, that should work fine.

Broncograveyard.com I recall had a fairly decent selection of coils to pick from, and often had the specs listed for them too, might be worth checking if you haven't already. Good luck on it.
